Movie Review - Battle: Los Angeles

reviewed Battle: Los Angeles and gave it
3.5 stars: "I went in with low expectations and was entertained for 2 hours.
It's a neat premise, although not an original one. If you've played Halo before
and watched District 9 you've pretty much seen this cliche filled movie. That
being said, it's a fun movie with good CGI that doesn't h...urt the movie (
I find a lot of movies depend on CGI these days.)
Summary: good suspenseful
scenes with a predictable cliche filled plot that had me rolling my eyes at some
parts, but i don't go to Sci-fi films for the acting. If you like sci-fi and
like first person shooter games like Halo or even Call of Duty, go see this on
the big screen

Kinect Confirmed As Fastest-Selling Consumer Electronics Device

Kinect
Confirmed As Fastest-Selling Consumer Electronics Device

New
Kinect Device sells quicker than the iPhone and iPad

Guinness
World Records, the global authority on record breaking, today confirm that the
Kinect for the Xbox 360 is the Fastest-Selling Consumer Electronics Device.
The hardware, that allows controller-free gaming, sold through an average of
133,333 units per day, for a total of 8 million units in its first 60 days on
sale from 4 November 2010 to 3 January 2011.

The sales figures outstrip both the iPhone and the iPad for the equivalent
periods after launch.

Gaz Deaves, Editor of Guinness World Records 2011 Gamer’s Edition, said: “The
sales figures here speak for themselves. We can confirm that no other consumer
electronics device sold faster within a 60-day time span, an incredible
achievement considering the strength of the sector.”

The new record will be included in the next Guinness World Records Gamer’s
Edition, which recognises record breaking achievement in the world of
videogames. The current Guinness World Records 2011 Gamer's Edition is
available in both book and eBook versions at http://gamers.guinnessworldrecords.com.

iPad2 - What is still missing

iPad2 was launched last week with Steve Jobs doing the demo to much fanfare.

Yes, it finally has a camera. As a matter of fact it has 2 of them. One front and one rear facing. Thumbs up.
It has a dual processor and is said to be much faster than its predecessor. We're also told that with all these news bells and whistles, the battery life is the same.

So, what is it missing?
SD Card slot - If I am on vacation and I only want to take my iPad and I take a ton of photos and videos with my camera (not the one on the iPad) I am going to have to wait to get in front of my laptop/computer and load them onto my iPad via iTunes. FAIL

USB device- Give me a USB device and I can live without the SD Card slot! I can also, plug in my keyboard, or any other peripheral i want, but no, this is not there! FAIL

4G - Apple has shown that they are cutting edge and ahead of the competition on a lot of things, especially in the past decade with the iPhone, iPad, iMac....etc. So why not have capability to get on the next generation network  4G?

I think Apple purposely omits these things so that people feel it necessary to buy the "next one." There really was no excuse for the original iPad not to have a camera (or two) but people still bought it - and they bought way more than the analysts could've ever imagined. Apple has a very strong following and these people (sheep) will defend these decisions, but in the back of their mind wish they got all the trimmings.  I don't like this practice that Apple subscribes to, but hey, it works and they are making billions of dollars doing it.

Final word
I held out on not getting an iPad because I wanted to see if the iPad2 would have the camera(s) SD Card/USB and I not a fan of getting generation 1 hardware. I learned my lesson on the original iPhone....well now I know whats on the table,  I will wait and see what the competition does, but I will be getting a tablet sometime in 2011 and probably upgrading next year. (just like they want me to)
